Accession 08-1981: Initial Deposit, 1883 - 1892

This accession includes photocopies of letters from the Lewis and Plant families in the late 19th century. The letters are mostly concerned with family life and farming. Very good descriptions of life on working farms by people of the "yeoman farmer" class. Many details of cooking, quilting, home remedies, as well as church and social activities.

An interesting source for agricultural history, women's history, and social history of the "New South."

Calender lists and describes 37 dates letters and 17 undated or fragmentary letters.
