Biographical / Historical
The Alabama Extension Homemakers was organized at Auburn, Alabama in 1926 as the Alabama Council of Home Demonstration Clubs. The organization joined the National Home Demonstration Council in 1936 and changed its name to the Alabama Extension Homemakers Council in 1965. Activities of the group have included promotion of safety, health and family life, and citizenship and leadership programs. In 1992, the name was changed to the Alabama Extension Homemakers.
