Biographical / Historical

This Collection contains a Civil War letter written by John D. Dewitt to a friend who had enlisted to fight for the Confederacy. Dewitt later served in a Confederate Cavalry Company from Alabama. In the letter, Dewitt informs his friend "Brother Talbert" of his work and health at home, and relates in detail a fisticuffs between two men that culminated in the shooting, and likely killing, of one of the men.
