Scope and Contents

This collection consists of scanned copies of Floyd's original journals of reminiscences covering his military service in World War I; his academic career at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, later Auburn University, and at Tulane University, from 1918 to 1928; his private medical practice from 1928 to 1933; his service as an army medical officer with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Mississippi from 1933 to 1940 and at Fort Benning, Georgia, 1940-1941; and his cateract surgery and recuperation.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Cyril Franklin Floyd, a native of Phenix City, Alabama, graduated from Tulane University Medical School in 1928. He practiced medicine in Alabama and Georgia until 1933, when he was called up as an Army Reserve medical officer. He remained in the Army Medical Corps until his retirement in 1957.
