Biographical / Historical

The Felton-Little Collection is a compilation of photographs, papers, and genealogical records of the descendants of Maria Charlotte Felton (1845-1899) and C. E. Little (-1925). Noah Felton (1808-1887), father of Maria Charlotte Felton, came from Georgia to the Loachapoka-Auburn area from between 1834 to 1835. He bought 400 acres of land from the Creek Indians. This land became part of the 2200 acre Felton plantation, to which Maria Charlotte Felton was heir. C. E. Little came to the Auburn area from Zanesville, Ohio sometime between 1860 and 1870. He owned a plantation near Auburn. Felton-Little Park was part of the C.E. Little Estate. C. E. Little and Maria Charlotte Felton married around 1870. Their five children were sons James Monroe and Felton and daughters Willie, Emma, and Lucy.
