Biographical / Historical
Henry Paul Luna (b. December 19, 1910 and d. July 13, 1988) was a pilot for American Airlines for 34 years and an Army Air Corps pilot during WWII and the Korean conflict. Mr. Luna received his early flight training in the Army Air Corps, in which he served as a combat command pilot in World War II. During the Korean conflict he served with the Strategic Air Command of the Air Force, ending his military service with the rank of colonel. He also flew military contract flights operated by American Airlines during the U.S. involvement in Korea and Vietnam. During his military career, Mr. Luna was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star, several campaign ribbons, a Distinguished Unit Citation and a letter of commendation from Gen. Curtis E. Le May. Colonel Luna is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
