Edith Royster Judd Papers
Scope and Contents
The Edith Royster Judd Collection consists largely of personal correspondence and materials, and newspaper clippings saved by Mrs. Judd for her collection of humorous stories and sayings. A few pamphlets, clippings and some correspondence in the collection relate to Mrs. Judd's career in education in North Carolina. Materials in the collection date from 1902 to 1956, and are in a fair state of preservation. The collection is arranged alphabetically.

Biographical / Historical
Edith Royster Judd, daughter of William Burt and Julia Emma Tutt Royster, was born in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina, attended summer sessions at the University of North Carolina, and was enrolled as a special student at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) and Columbia University. Edith Royster married Zebulon Vance Judd on December 27, 1915. Mr. Judd headed the Department of Education at A.P.I., and became its Dean when the department became the School of Education in 1920.
