The photographs are of extended Lane family members: General Lane's wife Charlotte; all four daughters - Liddie (Eliza), Mary, Kate, and Lottie; the two son-in-laws - George Petrie and Matthew Scott Sloan; and Liddie Lane Sloan, daughter of Matthew and Lottie Sloan. About half of the nearly 300 photographs are of Liddie Sloan, mostly of her childhood years in New Orleans and New York (Brooklyn). A small portion of the photogrphs are classed as Groups, Exteriors and Various. Some photographs throughout are annoted on the reverse sides with dates and/or comments. Matthew Sloan appears on a small number of photographs.
