This collection includes photocopies and transcriptions of five letters written by Pvt. Madison Kilpatrick to his family who lived on a farm near Godfrey, Putnam Co., Georgia. The photocopies of the manuscripts and typescripts were provided by Georgia State Archives, February 1965. Also included is the correspondece between Mr. Norman B. Cranford and the Georgia Department of Archives and History regarding the letters from Kilpatrick.

This collection consists of correspondence, photographs, military documents, certificates, financial documents, rosters, and miscellaneous items from Lane's military and civilian activities, memoirs as well as the lives of various family members. The collection also includes drawings from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama civil engineering students from the 1870s.

Scope and Contents The core of this collection is a set of forty-six letters written by various members of the Pearson and Johnson families to each other during the Civil War years and the years immediately before and after the war.
