This accession consists of correspondence to and from members of the Denson family and genealogical information for the Denson and the Lipscomb families. Genealogical information also includes original and reproduction photographs. There is some correspondence to and from the Lipscomb family. There is one folder of material related to Jennie Atkinson, a Denson cousin who served as a missionary to China.

Scope and Contents This collection documents the career and interests of Robert Andrew Betts, professor of electrical engineering at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, 1926 to 1942. An avid student of Opelika and area history, Betts collected information about the early days of Lee County and its predecessors. This collection contains handwritten rules for the organization, establishing protocol for meetings, fines, manner of voting, etc. Also included are partial drafts of a constitution and by-laws, as well as partial minutes from meetings in the spring of 1910.
